We believe you can read between the lines of 2022 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Managed Mobility Services, Global and you will find an MMS market that is adapting to the needs of an ever-growing customer base.
The pandemic has certainly contributed to the evolution of MMS – particularly in the area of sourcing and logistics management. In other areas studied by Gartner, including managed unified endpoint management (UEM), security management, financial management, and program management, the catalysts for change are more nuanced.
The Gartner Magic Quadrant for Managed Mobility Services, Global is a culmination of research that not only provides a wide-angle overview of the key players in the MMS market but also provides valuable insights into the industry.
DMI was recognized as a Leader for the seventh time in the 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant report.
Here are five ways the market for MMS is changing:
The scope of logistical services is growing. Hybrid work has contributed to the expanding scope of the MMS portfolio — particularly in the areas of reverse logistics and asset tracking, staging and kitting.
Automation, bots and virtual assistance engines have helped to expand the menu of support options available to MMS customers. This not only includes the type of support offered (calls, chat, emails) but also pricing options (“all you can use for a fixed price,” “all you can eat”) and time availability options (8/5, 12/5 or 24/7). “Overall, this means that enterprises now have more choices when it comes to what support options are available for their users,” notes the Gartner report.
Across the board, pricing options have expanded. These options include “flat rate for a bundle”, “price per individual” and specialized MMS service packages based on level of need or use case.
As the MMS market evolves, a wider range of companies can now compete — including TEM providers, value-added resellers and pure-play MMS providers. “We have examples from all types of providers that offer global services,” reads the report.
Key reasons customers use an MMS provider now include “end-user satisfaction,” in addition to cost reduction and enhanced operational efficiency. “This is especially the case because so many users are now working remotely, and a portion will likely remain working remotely, at least partially,” notes Gartner. “What was an emerging focus on more granular TCO models in 2020 has now become a required component of a purchasing decision.”
